Since our opening in 1980, Accredited has been a vendor of the California Regional Centers. We provide services and support to children and adults with developmentally disabilities. These disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and other related conditions.

Self-Directed Respite Services

When a consumer or family elects to recruit and hire their own respite worker, the Regional Centers may issue vouchers to reimburse families for respite costs. Families become the legal employer and are responsible for handling all employment responsibilities.

Accredited designed the Parent Voucher Conversion Program (similar to the Employer of Records services listed below) to allow families to recruit and hire their own respite workers but Accredited would handle all employment/employer responsibilities.

In-Home Respite Services

A Respite Agency provides intermittent or regularly scheduled non-medical care and/or supervision provided in the client's home. The support provided through respite may include;

• Assisting the family members to enable a person with developmental disabilities to stay at home
• Providing appropriate care and supervision to protect that person's safety in the absence of a family member(s)
• Relieving family members from the constantly demanding responsibility of providing care; and
• Attending to basic self-help needs and other activities that would ordinarily be performed by the family member.

Respite Services can also be provided for a consumer with medical care needs. In this instance, a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is utilized to provide safety, supervision and assist with medical care. Typically, consumers using this type of respite require G-Tube feedings, Tracheostomy Care, Ventilator Care, or have active seizures.

Home Health Services

Registered Nurse – Care Management

• Weekly visits for medication management for developmentally disabled adults living independently in the community
• Monthly visits for supervision of parent vendored care and LVN respite care
• Visits for Restricted Health Care education to caregivers in a group home setting

Also, providing In-Home Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Medical Social Services

Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic & Treatment

EPSDT is a Medi-Cal benefit for individuals under the age of 21 who have full-scope Medi-Cal eligibility. This benefit provides for periodic screenings to determine health care needs. Based upon the identified health care need, diagnostic and treatment services are provided. Home nursing services is an approved treatment service through the EPSDT program.

In addition to the regular Medi-Cal benefits, a beneficiary under the age of 21 may receive private duty nursing services from a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). These additional services are known as EPSDT Supplemental Services.

Fiscal Intermediary Services for Self-Determination Pilot Project

“The intent of self-determination is to facilitate consumer and family control of public funds such that they have the freedom to develop and purchase their own services.”

Fiscal Intermediaries are the Employer of Record for persons providing support services. The Employer of Record is responsible for completing tax, labor and social security documents. The employer, who serves as an agent for the Self-Determination client, calculates and files tax documents, distributes wages to support providers, manages workers’ compensation, disability and benefit insurances. Additionally, the Employer of Record verifies citizenship/legal work status of support providers. The client hires, supervises and discharges his or her support providers.

Medical Equipment & Supply

Insurance Coverage (including Medi-Cal) varies for each specific type of medical equipment and/or medical supply. When insurance does not reimbursement a provider directly, the Regional Centers may pay for such items through its purchase of service dollars. Non-covered items may be authorized and approved for payment through the Regional Center to a medical equipment/supply vendor like Accredited.
